Can't Stop

Sittin' in your truck
Back behind the bar
You're about sideways
As you ever were
Parking lot lights
Send a glow over us
As I force-feed you Quik-stop
I fall back in love

It's strange how some nothing becomes somethin' every time with you
You might be drunk off your ass, but you're still able to slur out, "I love you,"
still here in this parking lot it feels like a candlelit dinner for two
You never know how I can't stop fallin' for you

You sit in your chair
With a beer in your hand
Next to the remote
Lies a Copen-can
You're not watchin' me watch
You watchin' football
As you prop your feet up
I can't help but fall

It's strange how some nothing becomes somethin' everytime with you
You might be too busy yelling "Go Dawgs," to hear me say that I love you
Still, with a mouth full of dip, I'm lovin' every damn thing you do
You never know how I can't stop fallin' for you

A Hell in Love

Into the course
He never knew
It would be so rough
Broken down
Into pews
Into twisted love
Set it straight
Make a name
Make it up
You're here to fill
What's half full
Of an empty cup

Turn me down
Turn me out
And it turns you on
Make your name
Make the game
And it makes this hard
Play your cue
Play your turn
Learn to play your card
To hell with it
To hell with all
It's a hell in love

More to say
In your eyes
But you keep them shut
More to do
In your hands
Callused and so rough
Make your name
Make your name
Make it up
Take your time
You're all mine
It's a hell in love

Turn me down
Turn me out
And it turns you on
Make your name
Make the game
And it makes this hard
Play your cue
Play your turn
Learn to play your card
To hell with it
To hell with all
It's a hell in love

Come Back

Broken rains
I'm coming loose
I'm running far
I want to run to you

But you're not here
Goddamn that sand
It's pouring slow
Between my hands

And there you go sliding through my fingertips
And there you go taking me into some past

Come back soon
Come home now
You're fighting for a something for too long now
Come back to me
Come home please
I'm fighting for a something in these Georgian trees

And I swear those pines are screaming your name
And I swear these last cigarettes don't taste the same
Come back soon

This southern spring
This loss of air
I can't breathe
You're not there

Painful rush
Painful tears
I try to drink
The whiskey's here

And there you go pouring through my fingertips
And there you go taking me into some past

Come back soon
Come home now
You're fighting for a something for too long now
Come back to me
Come home please
I'm fighting for a something in these Georgian trees

And I swear those pines are screaming your name
And I swear these last cigarettes don't taste the same
Come back soon

Only Again

You were the mistake I never thought I'd make
As the rain passed by the window slow
You took me in your arms, and held me closer
Than I should ever be allowed to know
Sometimes I think that maybe I don't belong here
Well, where do you belong if it ain't home?
I broke too many times, can't find the pieces
I wrote too many songs to let you know

I ran away
I ran to only find I was alone
Only again
I believe that this is something I shouldn't know
I don't deserve the love I have
I don't deserve the rocks in my throat
I don't deserve to hold his hand and
I don't deserve those reddened notes

You took the pen
And wrote down lyrics to a lost love song
Only again
I didn't know the words that you were singin'
As the drifters drifted past
And their beers became cold
As the hippies hit their last
And the stoners all came slow

I wrote too many songs to let you know
Only again, only again...

Who Knows Why

Who knows why
It pours like it does
Into glasses, into bottles
We're all chasing somethin'
Who knows why
You drink like you do
It doesn't heal the pain
It won't help forget you

In the dark
We're lying to ourselves
We're beggin' to bottles
We're makin' the models
Of where we can never be

In the bar
We're lying in the stools
We weave in the tables
We start peelin' labels
Is this all we can be?

Who knows why
It pours like it does
Into glasses, into bottles
We're all chasing somethin'
Who knows why
You drink like you do
It doesn't heal the pain
It won't help forget you

In my head
I'm drowning in the beers
You're grabbin' for hope
We're grabbin' for dope
Let's smoke the memories

In your bed
You're staring at black light
You can't see the past
It all went to fast
Is this all we'll ever be?

Who knows why
It pours like it does
Into glasses, into bottles
We're all chasing somethin'
Who knows why
You drink like you do
It doesn't heal the pain
It won't help forget you
